The psychological assessment of children is much more than the
determination of a diagnosis. A broad-based evaluation is one that
is designed to paint a comprehensive picture of the child’s
strengths and weaknesses in the behavioral, emotional and
intellectual domains.
Assessment consists of obtaining information from a variety of
sources that include interview with parents, face-to-face testing
with the child, interviews with teachers or other significant
professionals, and direct observation of behavior (including
classroom observation).
Psycho-educational evaluations in accordance with Louisiana
Bulletin 1508 are available. These are required for determination of
special education needs, including Gifted Program and Learning
Disabilities
